Does ChatGPT know my business? How to check and fix it
Updated 2026-10-27
To find out whether ChatGPT knows your business, ask it and the other major models the questions a customer would ask, then compare the answers with your real facts. When answers are missing or wrong, the usual causes are blocked crawlers, thin or inconsistent website content, and little third-party coverage.
A quick manual test
- "What is [your business]?" Does it exist in the answer, and is it described correctly?
- "Who offers [your service] in [your city]?" Are you named?
- "What does [your business] cost / where is it based / who runs it?" Check each fact.
- Repeat in ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity. Answers differ by model and change over time.
Why models get businesses wrong
- Your site blocks AI crawlers or hides content behind JavaScript.
- Facts differ between your site, Google profile and directories.
- The business is new or small, with little written about it elsewhere.
- Another business has a similar name.
How to fix it
Start with crawl access and structured data, publish one clear description of the business, and make sure the same facts appear on your listings. Then re-test in a few weeks.
LLMSpotter automates the comparison: the AI Visibility Report builds a fact profile from your own site, asks several models about you, and lists where their answers differ.
